Making Progress

Hello everyone!

Well, we've been in our house now for almost two weeks (12 days, to be exact) and so far we're really digging this whole home ownership thing. For the first time ever, we can paint walls whatever color we want without any landlord to make us paint it back before we move out! Woo hoo! And like this house as much as we did, there are still some cosmetic changes we'd like to make to put our own stamp on it. Case in point, bedroom colors. The first projects we tackled were the master bedroom and Julia's room. We had two days of empty house to get the painting done before the movers arrived with all of our clutter. Observe the "before" pictures:

I know, not quite "us", right? Here's how the master colors ended up, two shades of a color called "Mississippi Mud":

And Julia's room has made it even farther! Mom and I started painting Julia's mural yesterday, and except for a few little additions and touch-ups, its pretty much done:

Julia didn't want to be left out of this project so she picked up a brush and started "painting" too!

Black Friday was not lost on us this year, we went out and made our first big purchases for the house - FURNITURE! We picked out a sofa and oversized chair for the living room, and the perfect sectional for the Man Cave. After this Tuesday you can recline while watching the game and enjoying a beer in our Man Cave, and even crash on the sleeper sofa it contains.

Unfortunately, for the next two weeks the only thing occupying the living room is our MASSIVE CHRISTMAS TREE!!! This puppy is over 9 feet tall and took my Dad and Paul hours to light (with 6 strands of mini-lights and 8 strands of pearl lights...). You can sit on the floor and enjoy the warm glow of the holidays.

Last, but not least, Julia has made a little video message to all of her Uncles and Aunties back in California. We miss you and hope to have you visit soon!!
