Showered With Kindness

Wow. Paul and I cannot thank you all enough for the outpouring of love and generosity this past weekend. Our baby shower was certainly a memorable one (which, of course, was captured in the several pictures you will see below)!

We couldn't begin to thank you all without first sending a huge hug of thanks to our hosts with the most - Claire and our Moms. Thank you, thank you, thank you! What an absolutely perfect day you planned. The setup was perfect and fun and really worked out for our sunny day, and the food was delicious! I think everyone had fun playing Bingo (especially once the wine came out!) and I certainly got a good chuckle reading everyone's diaper words of wisdom.

To everyone who was able to attend - it was great to see you! I wish I could have cloned myself so that I would have more time to spend with everyone. It was almost overwhelming to see how many people were there to celebrate this exciting time for Paul and me. Little (insert your guess for the name here) will be so fortunate to have such a wonderful network of family and friends in her life. Big hugs of thanks from both of us!

You'll be happy to hear that we were able to get all the gifts home to San Francisco in strategically packed suitcases! I must be the best suitcase packer ever (ok, so the Moms helped me too). We can't wait to start getting the room ready for our little princess. She certainly will be well dressed!

Here are some pictures from the festivities. Click on the images to see them full-sized.

No recap would be complete without mentioning the "mystery gift." What seemed like just another harmless gift, soon became the great mystery caper of the day. The gift tag said "So that your daughter can know the best damn NFL team." Naturally, I assumed it would be some Packers gear. Instead, this is what we were all subjected to:

If you, or someone you love is battling with Chicago Bears Fan syndrome, feel free to submit the culprit's name via anonymous comment to this post. Bears don't hurt people - bad taste in NFL teams hurts people.
Even if you can't tell from the photos above, Paul was indeed home this weekend as well. As fun as the thought of oohing and aahing over baby items with 60 women sounds, he opted to head out to Madison for some Badger Football action instead. Before he left we had some fun at Claire and Terry's on Friday, where Paul was finally able to fulfill a plan two years in the works. Behold, Paul and his miniature friend in matching Penguin polo's and sweat bands:

A few old fashioned's later (for Paul) and we were introduced to the family tradition of the Baby Shower Muumuu and lace Shower Parasol. Which of us do you think pulled off the better pregnancy look?
Obviously needing to get some of his manhood back, Paul enjoyed reliving college game day with the Badgers. A round of golf and a concert later, he remembered that it was much easier to do all of this with minimal sleep when we were 21 and still in college...
We hope you enjoy this photo-heavy post. We had a great time back home this weekend. Thanks again to everyone!!!!

What a fantastic post, Tisha. You are so thoughtful - that's why so many people wanted to come to your shower. You have always done so much for everyone, it was our pleasure to celebrate with you. Can't wait to meet "Theresa?" Love, Mamajoe
